FAQs

FAQs will be added as they arise. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

1. Should mixed-category couples (ie a college student dancing with a non-student) register for Collegiate or Post-Collegiate?

Collegiate events are only for couples wherein both partners are enrolled in an undergrad or graduate program. Thus, mixed-category couples should register for Post-Collegiate events.

2. Why is Novice only a 3-dance event?

Our open events mirror the structure of most NDCA competitions, with a Novice 3-dance, Pre-Champ 4-dance, and Open Amateur 5-dance. This allows new open dancers to focus on a core set of dances as they transition out of syllabus.

3. How can I purchase spectator tickets?

Spectator tickets will be available at the door, or you can buy them online on the Spectator Info page. Tickets will be $12 for students and children, and $25 for non-student adults.

General Info Questions:

Who is this event for? This competition is primarily for anyone who started dancing in college or as an adult! We will be running Collegiate events for partnerships wherein both dancers are students, and Post-Collegiate events for partnerships wherein both dancers started dancing in college or as adults. There are also selected Open Amateur and Senior events.

Which styles will be represented? All four styles (International Ballroom & Latin, and American Smooth & Rhythm) will be represented, as well as designated Nightclub events.

Will there be a Team Match? Yes! There will be Team Match shenanigans!

Do I need to compete at a qualifying event to attend? We are not limiting entries based on qualifying events or previous placement results. As long as you qualify as a Collegiate or Post-Collegiate dancer, you are allowed to enter (with exceptions for the Open Champ Amateur and Senior divisions). The rules and regulations regarding Collegiate / Post-Collegiate status will be posted under the “Rules & Regulations” tab at the top of this page.
